OverviewAt Northrop Grumman, we develop revolutionary systems that impact people’s lives worldwide. This role seeks a staff‑level engineer to design and integrate aircraft fire protection subsystems.
Key Responsibilities- Perform responsible engineer activities: design, trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system test & verification, and troubleshooting.
- Act as technical point of contact with suppliers and subcontractors for hardware qualification and procurement.
- Conduct system‑level analysis, including performance simulation for fire protection subsystem integration.
- Plan and support system‑level test execution, verification, data processing, and troubleshooting.
- Verify requirements and ensure airworthiness criteria are met through system‐level evaluations.
- Attend internal program, customer, and supplier technical exchanges and formal milestone reviews to provide or obtain progress status updates.
- Staff Responsible/Analysis Engineer with:
- B.S. in STEM + 12 years engineering experience, or
- M.S. in STEM + 10 years engineering experience, or
- Ph.D. in STEM + 7 years engineering experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a final adjudicated Secret clearance within a reasonable time.
- Professional experience in the development and integration of aircraft fire protection subsystems or components.
- Master’s in mechanical or aerospace engineering with focus on thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, or heat transfer.
- Experience with aircraft subsystem development: requirements definition, specification, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration, and test/verification for advanced aircraft.
- Thermodynamic, fluid mechanics, or heat‑transfer analysis of military/commercial aircraft subsystems.
- Modeling fluid systems using Amesim, MATLAB/Simulink, Thermal Desktop, Flomaster, or STAR‑CCM+.
- Familiarity with the military airworthiness certification process (MIL‑HDBK‑516).
- Interpretation of component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures.
- Support of pursuits and proposals, including generation, review, and approval of technical proposals and BOEs.
- Leadership experience in integrated product teams, supplier and customer relations.
$ – $ (base). Additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses. Bonus structure rewards individual contributions and company results. Certain positions may be eligible for long‑term incentives.
