Our client is a well-established MEP engineering firm with a strong portfolio of high-rise and commercial developments across Florida. As they continue to grow their St. Petersburg office, they are looking to add a licensed Electrical Engineer (PE) with proven experience designing electrical systems for large-scale vertical construction projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technical leader who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about delivering high-performance, code-compliant building systems.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design of electrical systems (power, lighting, fire alarm, and low voltage) for high-rise residential, mixed-use, hospitality, and commercial buildings
- Produce detailed construction documents and specifications in compliance with NEC, Florida Building Code, and local jurisdiction requirements
- Coordinate with architects, mechanical and plumbing engineers, contractors, and utility companies
- Review shop drawings, conduct field visits, and support construction administration
- Mentor junior electrical designers and support QA/QC of electrical deliverables
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure budgets and schedules are met
- Stay up to date on new technologies, energy codes, and sustainable design practices
- Active Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 6+ years of electrical design experience in the MEP consulting industry
- Project experience in high-rise residential, commercial hospitality, or mixed-use buildings
- Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and lighting calculation software (e.g., AGi
32) - Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA codes, and Florida Building Code
- LEED accreditation or familiarity with sustainable building practices
- Familiarity with Arc Flash and Short Circuit studies
- Experience working with local utility companies in Florida
- Base salary of $120,000-$170,000 depending on experience
