Department: Engineering
Reports To: Engineering Team Lead / Engineering Director
FLSA Status: Exempt / Full-time

Salary Range:$55,000 - $80,000 Annually (depending on experience)

ROLE

We are seeking an Engineering Technician with solid hands‑on electronics skills and a willingness to learn and grow within an engineering team. The ideal candidate will hold current IPC‑A‑610, IPC‑A‑620, and J‑STD‑001 Class 3 certifications and feel comfortable performing fine‑pitch soldering, basic rework, and inspection work, often under a microscope. If you enjoy building things, solving problems, and working with your hands, this role offers plenty of opportunities to develop.

Daily responsibilities include supporting engineering activities such as board‑level rework, simple assembly modifications, troubleshooting assistance, structured testing, and building cable and wiring assemblies. Candidates should be able to follow wiring diagrams to assemble cables and electronic assemblies, as well as read basic work instructions and engineering documentation. A short hands‑on soldering test will be part of the interview process so we can see your approach and technique.

You’ll have guidance from experienced engineers who will help you expand your capabilities over time. As the technician grows, there will be opportunities to learn advanced troubleshooting methods, become involved in automated testing, assist with fixture development, support simple schematic or documentation updates, and contribute to prototype manufacturing processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform fine‑pitch soldering, rework, repair, and modification of PCBAs to IPC-A-610 Class 3 workmanship standards.
  • Build and inspect cable and harness assemblies in accordance with IPC‑A-620 guidelines.
  • Follow wiring diagrams, schematics, and work instructions to assemble cables and electronic assemblies with accuracy.
  • Assist with board‑level troubleshooting and failure analysis activities.
  • Perform assembly modifications, ECO updates, and prototype support tasks as directed.
  • Maintain clean, accurate records of work performed, test results, and rework documentation
  • Follow ESD procedures, proper tool handling, and standard electronics lab practices.
  • Help maintain the lab by restocking consumables and keeping work areas clean and organized.
  • Collaborate with engineers, manufacturing, and test personnel during integration and prototyping efforts.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Current or previously certified to IPC‑A‑610, IPC‑A‑620, and J‑STD‑001 Class 3 certifications.
  • Strong fine‑pitch soldering skills and comfort working under a microscope.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and assembly documentation.
  • Basic understanding of electronics fundamentals and common electronic components.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, soldering/rework stations, multimeters, and standard lab equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce consistent high‑quality workmanship.
  • Ability to follow structured procedures and accurately document work performed.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers and technicians.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience with high‑reliability, aerospace, or defense‑grade electronics.
  • Ability to rework, remove, mask, and reapply conformal coating as required for board repair and modification.
  • Understanding of PCB fabrication, SMT assembly, or prototype manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with automated test systems or scripting tools.
  • Experience with build documentation, BOMs, and revision control systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates Degree in Engineering Technology, or equivalent hands‑on electronics experience.
  • 2 - 10 years of experience of relevant electronics technician experience.
  • US Person required; ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
