SerenX is building the next generation of portable, autonomous defensive missile systems to protect America and our allies. We're making advanced air defense smaller, more affordable, and accessible to the people who need it.
We're an institutionally funded defense technology company performing work on U.S. Department of Defense contracts. Our founding team includes Y Combinator alumni, former Special Operations leaders, and experienced aerospace engineers.
We believe in small teams with real ownership. We design, build, test, fly, break things, learn, and build again.

The RoleWe're hiring an Electro-Mechanical Prototype Technician to join our founding R&D team and help turn engineering designs into real, working flight hardware.
You'll work directly alongside mechanical, electrical, software, and flight-test engineers to assemble, wire, integrate, troubleshoot, repair, and improve our SX family of missiles.
This is not a traditional assembly-line position. One day you might be assembling precision mechanical components, the next building avionics harnesses, troubleshooting electronics, or preparing a vehicle for flight testing.
We're looking for someone who takes genuine pride in craftsmanship, notices the details others miss, and enjoys understanding how the entire system works.
A four-year engineering degree is not required. We care about what you can actually build.

Compensation: $55,000–$85,000 + equity
Reports to: Founder & CTO
Travel: Field testing and optional domestic/international customer travel.
What You'll Do- Assemble, integrate, troubleshoot, and repair prototype aerospace hardware, working directly from engineering drawings, CAD models, schematics, and assembly instructions.
- Perform precision mechanical assembly using hand tools, torque tools, fasteners, adhesives, inserts, and prototype-shop equipment.
- Work with CNC-machined parts, 3D-printed components, composites, bonded structures, and tightly packaged electromechanical assemblies.
- Build, install, and repair electrical harnesses, connectors, wiring, and avionics installations.
- Integrate flight computers, cameras, sensors, radios, circuit boards, actuators, batteries, and power electronics.
- Use multimeters, oscilloscopes, bench power supplies, calipers, micrometers, and other tools to inspect, diagnose, and verify hardware.
- Support prototype fabrication using 3D printers, basic machining, fixtures, jigs, and other rapid-development tools.
- Work alongside engineers during bench testing, system integration, troubleshooting, and hardware validation.
- Prepare flight vehicles and equipment for field testing, including inspection, configuration checks, tools, spare parts, and test readiness.
- Participate in field-test operations, vehicle recovery, teardown, repair, and rapid turnaround between tests.
- Document build configurations, component revisions, repairs, inspections, and hardware discrepancies.
- Provide direct feedback to engineers when something is difficult to assemble, maintain, inspect, or repair.
- Help maintain an organized, safe, and efficient R&D lab where prototypes can be built and improved…
