Overview
The Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures to assist licensed practitioners in diagnosing and evaluating patient medical conditions. The Radiology Technologist operates imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety and comfort, following Health First policies and regulatory protocols, while collaborating with healthcare teams to produce high-quality radiographic images.
Responsibilities- Maintain a safe environment by operating diagnostic imaging equipment and adhering to policies, procedures, and guidelines for patients, coworkers, and self.
- Perform general radiographic, portable, emergency room, trauma, operating room, mammography, and fluoroscopic exams, including invasive procedures.
- Screen patients for diagnostic imaging exams and effectively document and communicate pertinent information pre- and post-procedure.
- Position patients for diagnostic imaging exams using immobilization and protective equipment to comply with safety procedures and protocols.
- Produce images that meet image quality standards and evaluate exams for technical quality.
- Identify, prepare, and administer medications within the Radiology Technologist’s scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Monitor patients during exams, observe for adverse reactions, and take appropriate action when necessary.
- Maintain flexibility and adapt to changes in workflow and patient volume within the Health First organization.
- Communicate effectively with customers (patients, LPs, Health First Associates, the public) using strong customer relations skills.
- Follow all Federal, State, and Regional healthcare regulations and adhere to Joint Commission/ACR standards.
- Education:
Graduate of a Joint Review Committee approved Radiologic Technology program or school. Mammography experience must meet MQSA requirements where applicable. - Work Experience:
None - Licensure:
General Radiographer licensure in the State of Florida. - Certification: ARRT (R) and American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained.
- Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Ability to report to applicable Health First facility within thirty (30) minutes when on call; able to work effectively in a stressful environment and respond to life-threatening situations; strong time management and critical thinking, and coordination of scheduling and patient flow.
- Prior Diagnostic Imaging experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Physically agile; able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and crouch for most of the shift.
- Heavy work requiring lifting or moving objects up to 100 pounds or more with or without assistance.
- May need to move in various positions in different environments, including tight or confined spaces; may lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment up to 90% of the shift.
- Exposure to inside/outside environments, biohazards, and potentially extreme temperatures; may work with OSHA/CDC guidelines.
