Clinical Pharmacy Specialist Pediatrics - Pharmacy at Health First. The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist of Pediatrics delivers advanced clinical pharmacy services specific to Pediatric patients across the Health First Integrated Delivery Network (IDN). The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for Pediatrics will enhance pharmacologic therapy for neonates, infants, children, and adolescents by collaborating with licensed practitioners and allied health professionals. The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist of Pediatrics promotes and contributes to a safe, evidence-based and cost-effective use of medications based on and supporting the development of therapeutic guidelines, monitoring of pharmacokinetic, and patient-specific interventions.
The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist of Pediatrics serves as a core pharmacist advisor on pediatric-specific pharmacotherapy, partnering to continually increase development of clinical pharmacy services IDN.
- Serves as the primary pediatric and neonatal expert for units, supporting optimal evidence based medication therapy, while participating in rounds to assess and optimize pharmacotherapy in partnership with each patients care team.
- Acts as point of contact regarding pediatric code response, supporting pharmacologic management safety during emergent situations and incidents.
- Evaluates, oversees, and monitors pediatric-specific medication regimens for efficacy, safety, appropriateness of medication dosage, contraindications, and interactions.
- Participates in pediatric-specific pharmacy program development, providing accurate, safe, and appropriate medication therapy best practices and standards on each patient’s needs, while working as an active member of the Pharmacy team to collaborate with licensed practitioners and clinical staff on the delivery of pediatric-specific care.
- Develops and administers treatment protocols, clinical frameworks, and formulary recommendations that are pediatric-specific, providing drug information and clinical consultation to licensed practitioners and pharmacy team members.
- Partakes in quality assurance enhancements, and safety initiatives, within the pediatric pharmacy scope, promoting a culture of safe administration of medication therapy and patient care.
- Contributes during Medication Use Evaluations (MUEs), adverse event monitoring, and pharmacy interventions specific to pediatric care, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and standards.
- Conducts research and data analysis to enhance pediatric medication programs safety and quality, promoting the delivery of positive pharmacotherapy outcomes.
- Leverages and maintains competency in pediatric and neonatal pharmacotherapy practices through staying abreast of industry and market trends.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (Pharm
D). - Work Experience:
Two (2) years’ clinical pharmacy experience OR completion of accredited PGY1 residency. - Licensure:
Pharmacist licensure in the State of Florida. - Certification:
Pediatric Board Certification (e.g., BCPPS) within two (2) years of hire. - Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Demonstrated expertise in pediatric pharmacokinetics, therapeutics, and age-specific care considerations; excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills; strong problem-solving, decision-making, and clinical documentation capabilities; ability to evaluate and apply medical literature to practice; competency in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and clinical decision support tools.

Doctorate’s degree in Pharmacy (Pharm
D). - Work Experience:
PGY2 residency in Pediatrics or equivalent experience. - Certification:
Pediatric Board Certification (e.g., BCPPS) prior to start date and maintained. - Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Demonstrates ability to contribute positively to a team environment; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to be self-directed and motivated; ability to relate to customer needs and concerns.
