The Radiologic Technologist Assistant supports Radiologic Technologists by preparing customers/patients for imaging procedures, maintaining radiology equipment, managing supplies, and ensuring a clean and safe work environment. The assistant helps with customer/patient positioning, documentation, and workflow efficiency while adhering to safety and regulatory standards to support high‑quality diagnostic imaging services.
Primary Responsibilities- Provides patient positioning assistance under the supervision of a technologist or sonographer.
- Transports patients using stretchers, wheelchairs, and beds in accordance with safety procedures and hand‑off communication processes.
- Ensures all exam rooms and equipment are stocked, disinfected, and ready for the next patient.
- Maintains a safe environment for patients, team members, and yourself.
- Follows all federal, state, and regional healthcare regulations and Joint Commission standards.
- Ensures accurate and timely assistance to the technologist or sonographer.
- Adapts to changes in workflow and patient volume fluctuations.
- Communicates effectively with customers (patients, LP, other Health First associates, the public) using excellent customer‑relations skills.
- Utilizes supplies and equipment safely, proficiently, and cost‑effectively.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- No prior work experience required.
- No licensure required.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification required prior to start date and maintained.
- Demonstrated effective time‑management and critical‑thinking skills.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a stressful environment and respond to life‑threatening situations.
- Prior experience in patient care or customer service.
- At least one year of general office experience.
- Previous radiology experience.
- Basic computer skills.
- Physically agile, required to walk, stand, run, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, or crouch most of the shift.
- Frequent lifting, moving objects up to 100 lbs or more without assistance.
- May need to move themselves in tight and confined spaces or reach overhead.
- May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people or equipment with or without assistance up to 90 % of the shift.
- Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments with extreme temperatures, air contamination, dirt, grease, or water.
- May work with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
- May operate manual or motorized equipment for transporting materials.
- May be exposed to intense noise or vibration and awkward or confined work positions.
- Requires communication with others to exchange information.
- Requires visual acuity and hand‑eye coordination to perform tasks.
- May involve travel to various facilities and use of a personal vehicle.
