Position Summary:
Exercise assessment and planning and cardiac rhythm evaluation under the supervision of the Medical Director. The Cardiac Exercise Specialist oversees prescribed cardiac rehabilitation treatment, promotes optimal outcomes, and demonstrates quality‑driven patient‑centered care. The Specialist continuously monitors patients for exercise tolerance and adverse response to exercise.
- Participate in the orientation and initial assessment of new cardiac rehabilitation patients.
- Contribute to the development of the Individualized Treatment Plan with team members.
- Assess patients’ risk factors and support them in therapeutic lifestyle changes.
- Document initial assessment findings, treatment session results, and reassessment outcomes in the medical record.
- Ensure all components of the Individualized Treatment Plan are completed and certified by the medical director or referring physician every 30 days.
- Immediately respond and report any new or changing patient conditions to supervising and/or referring physician.
- Ensure patients and family/friends understand the Individualized Treatment Plan.
- Review plan of care and goals with patients and family/friends at each session to emphasize inclusion.
- Complete Focus on Therapeutic Outcomes at timely intervals.
- Manage schedule for smooth throughput of assessments, re‑assessments, and treatment sessions.
- Review individualized treatment plan weekly to address progress and modifications.

- Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently.
- May occasionally lift or move objects up to 50 pounds.
- May require moving in different positions and tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or overhead.
- May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment up to 90% of the assigned shift.
- May be exposed to environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, or noise levels.
- May be required to work with biohazards such as blood/body fluids following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
- Communicate with others to exchange information.
- Visual acuity and hand‑eye coordination to perform tasks.
- Workspace may vary from open to confined, onsite or remote.
- May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter and use of personal vehicle.
