POSITION SUMMARY
Tobe fullyengagedinsafelyoperating
Health
First vehicles to transportstretcherandwheelchair patients thataredischarged from Health Firstfacilitiestonursinghomes,assisted living and/or patient residence. Adheres toestablisheddepartmentperformanceproductivity, I-CAREValues and customer experience standards.
PRIMARYACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Provides courteous,professional serviceby alwaysintroducingself topatient and explainingmode of transport,wheelchairvsstretcher.
* Safely operates both stretcherandwheelchair. Reports anyissues to Manager. Removes broken or defective equipmentimmediately.
* Transfers and assists patientsontothe stretcheror intowheelchair,ensuringpatientis properlysecured andthe stretcher/wheelchairis locked andinstableposition priorto transport.
* Transportsmedically clearedcooperative
Baker
Actpatients. Musthave one of thesame sex on board with patient.
* Responsible forcare and safe delivery of patientbelongings from hospital to destination location
* Consistently practices appropriatehandwashing before andaftereachpatientencounter.
* Receives and confirmsproperdischargepaperwork andhandoffcommunicationwith
RN prior toleavingfacility.
* Cleans stretcherandwheelchairaftereachpatienttransport withhospitalapproved germicidal productfollowing
OSHAand CDC guidelines.
* Properly disposes of linenbyreturning to aHealth
Firstfacility.
* Communicatesprofessionally withdispatchandotherassociatesthroughout theIDN using proper phoneandemailetiquette.
* Maintainsvehicle and performs dailymaintenanceinspections anddocumentsappropriate findings.
* Fuelsvehicleat end of shiftand cleansvehicleinsidewipingdownseats,sweepingfloors, keeping vehicle freeof personal items andmaintainingsupplies; washes outsideof vehicle.
Work Experience
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Education:
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention class within 6 months of hire
* Work Experience:
Previous experience in customer service preferred
* Licensure/Certification:
* Must be 21 years of age or older to drive company vehicles
* Must maintain a current, valid State of Florida driver's license and a clean State of Florida Motor Vehicle Record
* Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
* Ability to cordially interact and effectively communicate with patients, families, and associates
* Ability to speak and understand written and verbal instructions in the English language
* Active listening skills
* Ability to work independently and successfully in a fast-paced environment
* Ability to effectively assess and evaluate situations to ensure patient safety
* Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
* Attention to detail
* Ability to work with a mechanical stretcher and wheelchair lift
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Heavy
* Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching for the majority of the shift
* Heavy work that frequently includes lifting or moving objects up to 100 pounds or more, with or without assistance
* May require moving oneself in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces, and reaching out or above shoulders or overhead
* May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift
* May be exposed to inside and outside environments with extreme temperatures, air contamination, dirt, grease, or water
* May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines
* May operate various types of manual and motorized equipment used in the transportation of materials
* May be exposed to intense noise or vibration and awkward or confined work positions
* Communicating with others to exchange information
* Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks
* Workspace may vary from open to confined
* May require travel to various facilities within and beyond the county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle
