Job Summary:
A Dietary Aide assists in the preparation, serving, and cleanup of meals for residents in a nursing home. The role focuses on ensuring residents receive nutritious, safe, and properly prepared meals in accordance with dietary guidelines, physician orders, and state health regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and portion food items according to menus and dietary plans
- Serve meals and beverages to residents, including those with special dietary needs (e.g., low sodium, diabetic, pureed diets)
- Assist residents who may need help eating (in some facilities)
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, dining areas, and equipment
- Wash dishes, utensils, and food prep areas
- Follow proper food safety and sanitation guidelines (per Florida health standards)
- Store food properly and monitor temperatures
- Work with dietary staff and healthcare team to meet residents’ nutritional needs
- Report any issues with food quality or resident intake
Requirements/Qualifications of Dietary Aide:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- At least one (1) year Skilled Nursing experience preferred.
- Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
- Highest level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to communicate at all levels of organization and work well within a team environment in support of company objectives.
- Customer service oriented with the ability to work well under pressure.
