Are you a high-impact, hands-on Accounting Manager ready to make an immediate, defining contribution to a fast-paced leader in the defense and security industry?
We're looking for a motivated change agent to own the monthly close, strengthen processes, and ensure GAAP compliance leading directly to 2025 audit readiness. This is a ground-floor opportunity to work directly with a strong CFO and put your stamp on a rapidly growing organization located in Melbourne, Florida.
If you thrive in a challenging, rapid-growth, project-based manufacturing environment and have a drive for continuous improvement, we want to talk to you!
What You Will Own and Drive:- Financial Operations Oversight:
Manage the day-to-day accounting department, including AP, AR, GL, Job Costing, and financial statement preparation. - The Monthly Close Master:
Lead and execute a timely, accurate, and audit-ready close process, including preparing and posting complex journal entries, performing variance analysis, and reconciling all subledgers and balance sheet accounts. - Structure & Process Improvement:
Design and implement robust close checklists, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and documentation to build structure and efficiency. - Compliance & Audit Readiness:
Serve as the point person for external audits and investor requests. Implement and maintain strong internal controls and ensure strict compliance with GAAP, including significant experience with ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition) and ASC 842 (Leases). - Expert Knowledge Application:
Validate revenue and COGS, manage payroll support, and ensure accuracy in a high-tech manufacturing, project-based setting.
- Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA preferred), 5-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, at least 2 years in a management/supervisory role, significant experience managing the GL and month-end close in a project-based, high-tech manufacturing environment. - Technical Expertise:
Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls, expertise in ASC 606 Revenue Recognition practices especially in Aerospace/Defense, advanced proficiency in ERPs and Excel, proven experience managing external audits and preparing audit-ready documentation. - Preferred:
Public Accounting or direct Aerospace/Defense industry experience, DCAA compliance, cost accounting, and government reporting, experience with investor requests and setting up data rooms. - Leadership & Mindset:
Self-motivated self-starter willing to challenge the status quo and drive change; exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical problem-solving skills, commitment to confidentiality, and proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and communicate effectively across all levels.
