Position SummaryThe Director of Emergency Services, Tertiary Hospital, under the direction of the Vice President of Hospital Division Emergency Room and Trauma Services, provides direction and strategic leadership of the operational, financial, and activities relating to Health First’s Holmes Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Tertiary Hospital Emergency Department. The Director oversees and directs the growth, management, and resource allocation and management controls in efforts to ensure continuous delivery of high‑quality patient care in Health First’s Tertiary Hospital Emergency Department(s).
PrimaryAccountabilities
- Identifies opportunities for improvement impacting the service line and implements solutions and initiatives with follow through and communication.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates the emergency services program, assuring patient quality, experience and safety in efforts to stay consistent with Health First’s mission and vision.
- Delivers initiatives to ensure service line delivery of operational excellence, ensuring the provision of quality services in accordance with regulatory standards, and best practice.
- Oversees the enforcement of service line care and development of processes that measure and ensure consistent compliance with best practices.
- Supports in decision‑making processes related to implementation of clinical policies and procedures, and clinical nursing goals and directions.
- Remains current on all industry trends and best practices and incorporates new initiatives into the service line as determined by the needs of the organization and community.
- Monitors and ensures service line adherence to regulatory requirements, and Health First policies and procedures to ensure alignment with compliance standards.
- Prepares and delivers reporting to leadership outlining progress in meeting goals on an annual basis, including data such as finance, clinical activities, quality, and safety.
- Participates in committees across Health First’s Integrated Delivery Network (IDN) to provide ongoing communication to applicable stakeholders and partners.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams on ease of accessing care, education, information, and initiatives improving the care delivered by the service line.
- Define and communicate a clear, compelling vision for the team that effectively ties into the mission and vision of Health First and inspire the team to achieve that vision.
- Provide leadership, motivation, coaching, feedback and support to foster and strengthen growth and development of an effective, high performing team.
- Lead change through effective communication, explaining the connection and value to the organization, creating stronger buy‑in and urgency, while understanding impact to the team to obtain commitment.
- Demonstrate openness to hearing diverse ideas and thoughts; create a sense of inclusivity; and encourage collaboration across teams to help break down silos to meet the team’s and organization’s goals.
- Recruit, select, grow, and retain highly engaged, high performing diverse and inclusive associates.
- Display strong strategic and financial acumen in areas of responsibility in alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives.
- Education:
Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN), Business or Healthcare Administration (MBA/MHA), or a relevant field. - Four (4) years’ experience in nursing leadership.
- Two (2) years’ experience in emergency service environment.
- Licensure:
Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Florida or endorsement. - Certification:
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained. - Proficient in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Knowledge of The Joint Commission and applicable regulatory agencies.
- Highly developed communication skills, verbal and non‑verbal, and demonstrated leadership skills.
- Sound organizational skills including time management and problem‑solving.
