Director Of Operations

The Director of Operations is fully engaged in providing the environment and staff to assist physicians to perform quality care in a timely, safe, efficient, and professional manner. Direct operational responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Diagnostic Radiology, Mammography, Ultrasound, Radiology Support, Nuclear Medicine, CT, MRI, Respiratory Therapy, EEG, Pulmonary Function and Volunteer Services. The Director of Operations provides on-site leadership and has operational responsibility within matrixed areas including but not limited to:
Clinical Engineering, Dietary, General Stores, Heart and Vascular Services, Housekeeping, Laboratory Services, Pharmacy, Plant Engineering (Plant Ops), Registration, Rehab Services, Safety & Security, and Transport. The Director of Operations provides operational leadership and oversight of a Hospital Division department or service line.

Primary Accountabilities

Acts under the direction of the Hospital Presidents/Vice President of Clinical Operations keeping them informed on the progress and status of departmental objectives and action plans.

Responsible for planning, implementation, and evaluation of goals/objectives for all departments of responsibility. Meets regularly with management team to discuss the progress and status of departmental objectives and action plans.

Plans, directs and supervises all technical aspects of departments of responsibility.

Provides oversight and evaluation of programs and services, striving to be an industry leader.

Directly responsible for the maintenance of existing equipment and such contractual services as may be required; recommends action on equipment modification, new equipment and essential construction within the departments

Assists in the planning for all new departmental facilities, including equipment and personnel needs.

Ensures assigned departments are prepared and maintain documentation to pass regulatory inspections, including TJC, AHCA, ACR, IAC, MQSA, HRS, CAP, etc.

Participates in facility contract management through review and escalation for revision, renewal or termination.

Represents hospital as appropriate in its relationships with customers, providers, suppliers, competitors, government agencies, professional societies and similar groups.

Coordinates departmental purchasing and is responsible for stock level, storage and utilization. Prepares and manages operating personnel and budgets in a fiscally responsible manner

Coordinates resources with an understanding of patient care needs, projected patient census and changes in healthcare technology. Reviews monthly operational budget and reports abnormal findings to Site Administrator/VP of Clinical Operations.

Participates in the development of hospital strategic plan and provides direction in all areas of responsibility to ensure continued growth, increase revenues and operating income consistent with goal for the fiscal year.
