Overview

Industrial Manufacturing Engineer III;
Melbourne, FL facility. This role supports operations and the manufacturing of CNS (Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance) products. You will evaluate and solve manufacturing problems related to design, process, and supplier issues for high-quality electronic assemblies, provide technical support to operations, and enable/improve manufacturing flow utilizing LEAN principles. A curiosity-driven self-starter with strong teaming, communication, and relationship-building abilities is ideal, with a passion for LEAN principles and processes to improve efficiency and productivity and reduce waste.

Responsibilities
  • Drive manufacturing process improvements across multiple assembly process steps.
  • Perform time studies to maintain standard timings used for operator productivity calculations and staffing analyses.
  • Identify opportunities to remove waste from processes and reduce standard times.
  • Support Production Build Operators with immediate needs on tooling and processes to meet production schedule.
  • Utilize drafting/modeling software to design and implement new fixtures for process improvement.
  • Develop and maintain Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEAs).
  • Analyze and understand factory needs and requirements.
  • Conduct Process Flow and line balancing analysis and drive improvements.
  • Develop tools that enable manufacturing or increase production rates.
  • Implement procedure and process improvements based on safety, quality, and productivity concerns.
  • Identify and address safety concerns and improve production facilities and equipment layouts.
  • Provide status updates to management on equipment, manpower, space, and other elements affecting manufacturing.
  • Identify needs for capital expenses and provide cost/benefit analysis and business justification.
Qualifications
  • Typically requires a University Degree with minimum 5 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with minimum 3 years of experience; in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing and/or electrical component troubleshooting experience.
Preferred
  • LEAN manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with equipment and factory layouts.
  • Problem-solving skills with ability to proactively identify alternate solutions to technical challenges.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration to achieve operational goals.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues and mitigate risks.
