Position Summary

To be fully engaged in providing quality/no harm, customer service and stewardship by overseeing the medical care given to patients while implementing high standards of care consistent with clinic office and medical policies and procedures.

Primary Accountabilities
  • Assist physician in all procedures as instructed
  • Maintain all stock in treatment rooms as well as rotate dated medications, supplies and keep correct documentation of narcotic drugs
  • Collect blood and/or samples as directed using sterile techniques, process with correct paperwork and direct to correct laboratory for processing
  • Sterilize all equipment/instruments using proper techniques and handle all other standard equipment used at the wound clinic and/or physician office
  • Administer all medications as ordered and assure all documentation is noted, as well as call in medications to area pharmacies when requested by physician
  • Provide leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and patient team personnel to maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical wound care setting
  • Assist in use of equipment and materials in a cost‑effective manner
  • Complete all documentation supporting billable activities in a timely manner
  • Maintain documentation and assessment of patients’ vital signs, drug allergies and description of patients’ complaints on all charts
  • Under the supervision of an RN case‑manage patients with their wound care
  • Apply dressings as ordered per the physician
Work Experience
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education:

    Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse licensure from a credentialed program supported by the Florida Board of Nursing and obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date

    Current Florida LPN license
  • Certification:
    Must hold and maintain current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
  • Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in stressful environments
  • Ability to assess and quickly interpret data and assist physicians in the care and education of patients of various ages and levels of understanding
  • Demonstrate leadership ability and flexibility
  • Demonstrate knowledge of exposure to biohazardous waste, MSDA substances and unknown diseases
Physical Requirements (medium)
  • Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing or crouching frequently
  • Medium work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, with or without assistance
  • May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or overhead
  • May lift, turn, pull, push or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift
  • May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or noise levels
  • May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines
  • Communicate with others to exchange information
  • Visual acuity and hand‑eye coordination to perform tasks
  • Workspace may vary from open to confined
  • May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle
