Registered Nurse
- Med Surg Ortho – Health First Careers
Health First Careers is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate registered nurse to join our Orthopedics department. As a Registered Nurse in our Med Surg/Orthopedics unit, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our diverse patient population.
Location: Melbourne, Florida – Brevard County, USA
Job Type: Part‑Time
Key Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor and document patient progress and report any changes or concerns to the healthcare team.
- Educate patients and their families on disease management, treatment plans, and self‑care techniques.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date patient records.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain professional development.
- Current and valid registered nurse license in the state of Florida.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in Med Surg or Orthopedics nursing.
- BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts and weekends as needed.
- Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing.
- BSN required.
- Current Florida RN licensure or endorsement.
- Must hold current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain.
- Certification(s) as required by specific unit.
- Must have visual acuity and hand‑eye coordination to perform clinical tasks.
- Must have corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Must be able to lift, turn, pull, push or ambulate patients/equipment up to 90% of the assigned shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted up to 33% of the assigned shift.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and stoop up to 90% of assigned shift.
- Potential for exposure to bio‑hazardous waste, and known or unknown diseases.
- Must have ability to work in often stressful environment with patients/families at various ages and levels of understanding.
- Must have ability to concentrate on multiple priority activities.
- Must have ability to respond appropriately to life‑threatening situations.
- Must have critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
