Full Time Outpatient RN for Busy Plastic Surgery & Dermatology Practice
Location: Melbourne, Florida
Job Summary: Working with a prestigious Plastic Surgery practice, you will be responsible for assisting the physician with patient care including pre and post operative surgical dermatology and plastic surgery procedures. This includes suture removal, dressing changes, wound care, performing debridement of wounds in coordination with plastic surgery to promote optimal healing and prepare the site for reconstructive procedures. Completion of pathology and assisting with biopsies as well as lab requisition documents.
PrimaryDuties
- Perform nursing procedures such as suture removal, dressing changes, post laser care and wound assessment without direct physician supervision.
- Assist or circulate for physician within office surgical or laser procedures.
- Provide pre‑operative following physician‑established treatment plans, verify patient understanding of the prescribed regimen, including proper medication use, and reinforce the patient’s responsibility for adherence prior to discharge.
- Prepare patient’s skin for in‑office procedures where appropriate.
- Obtain short history and vital signs, and update medication list if necessary.
- Set up exam room according to scheduled procedure or anticipate physician needs if non‑scheduled procedure is likely.
- Straighten and clean exam rooms after patient visits.
- Stock procedure rooms with injectable products as needed.
- Coordinate pre‑operative clearances with outside physicians as needed and obtain test results for evaluation.
- Review charts for necessary paperwork for patient appointments.
- Prepare all paperwork for and perform pre‑operative H&P appointment.
- Follow up with patients pre and post‑operatively.
- Examine all post‑operative patients and assess their progress.
- Act as liaison between patient and surgeon for medical problems or concerns.
- Mix/prepare all medications to be used during patient treatments.
- Stock all exam rooms.
- Perform all duties related to medical instrument cleaning and sterilization.
- Attend patient seminars and practice functions as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with current license and/or LPN.
- Three or more years of experience in a medical office working as an RN.
