Position SummaryThe Ambulatory Surgery Nurse Manager is fully engaged in providing No Harm/Quality, memorable Patient/Customer Experiences, and Stewardship by planning, organizing, managing, and evaluating quality clinical and support services for the assigned Ambulatory Surgery Center. The alignment with, and accomplishments of, the Surgery Center’s philosophy and objectives measure the safety, quality, and memorable experiences received by patients and others from the department.
The Ambulatory Surgery Nurse Manager attends and reports regularly at Medical Staff and Quality meetings.
- Maintains current knowledge and skill in surgical clinical practice and management.
- Works to meet or exceed all key performance indicators on the departmental performance scorecard.
- Maintains oversight of payroll activities for department.
- Reviews and ensures standards are met for licensure and accreditation reviews by maintaining departmental preparation.
- Assesses delivery of care and patient outcomes through rounds, committees, quality assessments, performance improvement activities, and community surveys to ensure positive patient experience and quality patient care.
- Promotes, plans, and implements multi-disciplinary collaboration to ensure a coordinated approach to patient care.
- Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies/procedures.
- Defines educational needs and actively supports staff development activities.
- Manages and supports efforts to achieve and revise staffing standards including periodic review of staffing patterns, recruitment and retention programs, and staff utilization.
- Communicates consistently and regularly with all staff to keep them informed.
- Participates in the identification and development of lean projects to reduce waste and non-value added activities and processes.
- Defines and communicates a clear, compelling vision for the team that effectively ties into the mission and vision of Health First, and inspirationally leads the team to achieve that vision.
- Provides leadership, motivation, coaching, feedback and support to strengthen growth, development and wellness at work to build and foster effective, high performing teams.
- Leads change through effective communication, explaining the connection and value to the organization, creating stronger buy-in and urgency, while understanding impact to the team to obtain commitment.
- Demonstrates openness to hearing diverse ideas and thoughts; creates a sense of inclusivity; and encourages collaboration across teams to help break down silos to meet the team’s and organization’s goals.
- Recruits, selects, grows, and retains highly engaged, high performing diverse and inclusive associates.
- Demonstrates fiscal acumen and contributes to and supports the strategic direction of the areas of responsibility and organization.
- Education:
Associate’s Degree in Nursing, BSN preferred. - Licensure:
Current, active State of Florida RN license or endorsement. - Certification:
Must hold current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Health Care Provider prior to start and maintain. - Work Experience:
At least two (2) years of relevant clinical experience. - Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Excellent oral and written and interpersonal communication skills. - Knowledge of applicable accrediting organizations and standards (AHCA, TJC, AAAHC, etc.).
- Ability to interpret and deal with complex situations.
- Ability to respond appropriately to dissatisfied customers.
- Ability to function in a highly stressful environment.
- Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing or crouching frequently.
- Medium work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, with or without assistance.
- May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or over head.
