Department: Utility Service Department, Organizational Unit:
County Water and Wastewater

Position Type: Permanent, Full Time

Location: North, Central, and South areas of the County

Work Schedule: Shift work including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Pay: $23.05 to $25.36 hourly, negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Open until filled.

Performs entry-level crafts and trades work participating in the daily operation, maintenance, and housekeeping typical of water treatment facilities.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience assisting with or performing mechanical repair and routine maintenance on equipment, machinery, or mechanical systems in an industrial, utility, automotive, or similar setting.
  • College or technical coursework related to science or treatment plant operations preferred.
  • Valid Florida driver's license, maintained during employment.
  • Obtain Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Class C Drinking Water Operator's license within 12 months of employment.
  • May be required to complete OSHA-compliant forklift operator training and operate a forklift.
  • Physically capable of properly wearing and utilizing all required personal protective equipment (PPE), which may include respiratory protection.
  • Able to work planned and unplanned overtime, standby, on-call duties, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Required to perform emergency duties as directed in the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man‑made disaster that may threaten the area.
Special Requirements
  • Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment.
  • Must obtain within 12 months of employment, the FDEP Class C Drinking Water Operator's license.
  • May be required, depending on area of assignment, to successfully complete an OSHA-compliant forklift operator training course which meets the requirements of CFR  and be able to operate a forklift.
  • Must be physically capable at all times of properly wearing and utilizing all required PPE, which may include respiratory protection.
  • Must be able to work planned and unplanned overtime and standby and on-call duties on a rotational basis, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man‑made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
