Overview

Senior Principal Engineer Software - Embedded and Real Time (Melbourne, FL). This position is onsite in Melbourne, Florida, with relocation assistance potentially available and a Secret clearance (Top Secret in-scope may be required). Travel up to 25% may be needed. This opportunity is contingent on program funding and start dates are determined after funding confirmation.

• Design, develop, integrate, modify, and maintain customized or standardized embedded mission systems applications using software engineering best practices and standards.
• Participate in the full software development life cycle, including requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and maintenance.
• Architect and develop embedded mission systems software on a real-time operating system.
• Work within Agile Scrum teams to develop software products for multiple baselines.

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years of related experience; OR Master’s with 6 years; OR PhD with 4 years of related experience.
• Recent professional experience developing software and scripts in C, Object-Oriented C++, and/or Python for safety-critical applications/systems.
• Recent professional experience performing software testing.
• Experience developing low-level software requirements.
• Familiarity with architecting, designing, modeling (Rhapsody or Cameo), implementing, maintaining, integrating, debugging, verifying, and qualifying safety-critical embedded real-time software written in OO C++ on RTOS such as VxWorks, Integrity, and/or RTOS/Linux variants.
• Familiarity with static and dynamic code analysis tools and fuzzing tools (e.g., Coverity, Fortify, Sonar Qube).
• Familiarity with software change control, change management, and CI/CD tools (e.g., Atlassian tool suite, Git Hub, Git Lab, Jenkins).
• Active DoD Secret clearance or Top Secret (in-scope) with ability to obtain and maintain PAR access prior to employment.

• Strong understanding of C and C++ (templates, memory management, compiler/linker).
• Ability to collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers, and test engineers on complex software systems.
• Leadership, teamwork, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience with Agile software development, OO architectures, design, programming, debugging, and hardware-software integration and testing.
• Experience with software change control, code quality, static analysis, and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jira, Git Hub, Git Lab, Sonar Qube, Coverity, Jenkins).
• Experience with DOORs and/or Software Requirements Specification Testing using simulators and automated scripting languages (Python, MATLAB, JavaScript, Bash).
• Experience architecting, modeling (Rhapsody or Cameo), implementing, maintaining, integrating, debugging, verifying, and qualifying safety-critical embedded real-time software on RTOS.
