Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Sector is seeking a Staff Engineer Software to support the Global Surveillance Division supporting the team of qualified, diverse individuals. The program technologies include the full software lifecycle and advanced missions support in tactical applications for the warfighter. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida

Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls;

prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.

• Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions
• Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software
• Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and control
• Designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems
• Ensures software standards are met
• Requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance (Interim DoD Top Secret clearance required to start) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs

• Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 12 or more years of experience in software engineering OR Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 10 or more years of experience in software engineering OR PhD in a STEM discipline and 8 or more years of experience in software engineering
• At least 7+ years’ experience developing software/writing code in C/C++ OR Java
• 7+ years’ experience developing software in an object‑oriented manner, analysis and design
• 5+ Years experience integrating software and hardware
• 7+ years’ experience developing software with Linux/Unix operating systems
• Requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance (Interim DoD Top Secret clearance required to start) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs
• At least 3+ years of Lab and Software simulation experience

• Experience with Open Mission Systems (OMS) architecture and standards
• Experience with Agile software development and Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Fisheye, etc.)
