Project Manager, Electrical Engineering

Overview

AWC Staff Services are looking for a Project Manager to work with our client in Melksham. You will be onsite at Melksham Substation 4 days a week. You will lead the delivery of essential infrastructure projects across electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, and customer connection frameworks. You will oversee projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This role typically supports major clients including National Grid, SSE, UKPN, and SSEN, across a portfolio of Electrical Transmission, Distribution, and Substation Build projects ranging from 11kV to 400kV.

• Proven experience managing energy/utility projects, ideally across electrical transmission and distribution (11kV–400kV).
• Strong understanding of HV networks, substations, switch gear, and utility construction environments.
• Experience with NEC contract frameworks and commercial management.
• Ability to manage a portfolio of complex projects and deliver measurable outcomes.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Strong planning, budgeting, estimating, and cost‑control capability, including CVR work.
• Competent user of digital tools and project management software.

• HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
• Project management certification (e.g., APM, PRINCE2) preferred.
• SMSTS or equivalent safety certification
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel frequently.
