About the RoleAs a Support Worker, you’ll be working with clients across your local community, providing a wide range of support, which may include:
- Assisting with personal care, such as washing, dressing, and bathing
- Supporting with medication prompts and administration
- Offering companionship—sharing conversation, hobbies, and daily routines
- Preparing meals and supporting nutritional needs
- Carrying out light housekeeping and home safety checks
- Assisting with mobility, including helping clients in and out of bed
- Supporting clients to attend appointments or social outings

- Competitive Pay:
From £14.25/hour weekdays, and £15.50/hour weekends - Bank Holiday Enhancements: 1.5x standard pay rate
- Paid Travel Time:
We pay for the time spent travelling between clients - Mileage Reimbursement: 35p per mile

At Right at Home Chippenham, we’re proud to provide training that goes far beyond the basics. Whether you're new to care or bringing past experience, our structured approach ensures you feel confident, prepared, and fully supported in your role from day one—and as you grow with us.
1. Three Days of In-Person, Classroom-Based Training
Your journey begins with a comprehensive three-day, face-to-face induction held at our local office. This practical, hands-on training includes:
- Medication Training – Safe handling, administration, and accurate record keeping
- Basic Life Support – Emergency response, CPR, and first aid essentials
- Manual Handling – Safe movement and transfer techniques that protect both you and your clients
- Key care skills including infection control, communication, and person-centred support
This training provides a strong foundation and ensures you’re confident before visiting clients on your own.
2. Shadowing Shifts
Following your classroom training, you’ll complete supervised shadowing visits with experienced Care Givers. This gives you the opportunity to observe real visits, ask questions, and begin your work with reassurance and guidance.
3. E-Learning Platform:
Learn Everything You Need to Know
You’ll also be enrolled on our comprehensive e-learning platform, which covers all core areas of home care. These include:
- Dementia awareness
- Fire safety
- Health and safety
- Infection prevention
- Safeguarding
- Food hygiene
- Mental capacity and more
This online training ensures you're equipped with the knowledge and understanding needed to deliver safe, high-quality care—at your own pace.
4. Fully Funded NVQ Qualifications
We’re committed to your long-term development. After 12 months of employment, we offer you the opportunity to complete a fully funded NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Health & Social Care.
