Electrical Construction Fitter – Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks

Base

Location:

Slough, Swindon, Oxford, Melksham, Andover, Yeovil, Poole New Forest, Portsmouth, Petersfield, Aldershot, West London or Reading. We require your base "home" location to be within commuting distance of the depot.

Salary: £34,749 – £40,939 plus

Permanent | Full Time

• Deliver High Voltage construction projects in a live electricity substation environment in line with operational safety rules and safety legislation.
• Install and commission new CT metering apparatus.
• Operate telehandlers, mewps and construct mobile scaffolds (full training will be provided).
• Have a personal development plan created by yourself with guidance from your line manager; it will be reviewed regularly and shape your career path at SSE.

• Knowledge and experience of installing electrical systems, containment, cabling, plant and small wiring.
• High regard for safety, understanding of CDM regulations and good communication skills.
• Previous experience: DC battery systems, internal panel wiring modification, multicore cable terminating and glanding, wiring circuit breakers, CTs/VTs to marshalling kiosks and control panels, AC/DC wiring, replacing 33kV outdoor circuit breakers and isolators.

• Knowledge of the electricity distribution network and experience of working in live electricity substation environments from 11kV – 132kV.
• Previous electricity network operational authorisations and training/qualifications in scaffold, telehandler, furzeweld, working at heights, confined space, asbestos, COSHH, Loler and SMSTS.

For this role, a full, clean UK driving licence is essential, along with a flexible approach to working hours and locations due to extensive travel throughout the network area.
