General Practice Pharmacist (Band 8a) – Bank Post

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and adaptable pharmacist to join the Pharmacotherapy Service as a General Practice Pharmacist on a bank basis. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-quality, evidence-based and cost-effective prescribing across primary care, while working closely with GP practices, community pharmacy colleagues and wider multidisciplinary teams. This bank post offers flexible working and we would welcome applications from those seeking part‑time hours or those interested in trying out a pharmacotherapy role.

It is an ideal opportunity for pharmacists who would like to gain experience in primary care pharmacotherapy, broaden their clinical practice and develop their skills within a supportive and evolving service. The post holder will support the delivery of the Pharmacotherapy Service, helping to optimise medicines use, improve patient outcomes, reduce medicines‑related risk and influence safe, effective and economical prescribing.

• Support the delivery of the Pharmacotherapy Service, helping to optimise medicines use, improve patient outcomes, reduce medicines‑related risk and influence safe, effective and economical prescribing.
• Medication review, audit, service development.
• Implementation of prescribing guidance.
• Close collaborative working with prescribers and practice teams.

• Excellent communicator with strong clinical judgement, organisational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Experience in medicines management, prescribing support or primary care is desirable.
• Applicants should be keen to contribute to service development and innovation across NHS Borders.
• Right to work in the United Kingdom. Eligibility to work must be demonstrated, or sponsorship may be considered for eligible candidates under UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa, provided the sponsor's licence and salary threshold requirements are met.
