Adult ADHD Clinical Nurse Specialist / Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Non‑Medical Prescriber)
National Health Service (NHS) Borders Adult Community Mental Health Services
Part‑time: 2 days per week
Fixed location:
Across all Scottish Borders localities
The Clinical Nurse Specialist / Advanced Nurse Practitioner will support adults with ADHD across the Scottish Borders, delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care. Key duties include annual ADHD reviews, autonomous medication management, collaboration with community mental health teams, primary care, and pharmaceutical services, and assessment of adults with comorbid mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver annual ADHD reviews for adults in all Borders localities
- Independently review, adjust, and prescribe ADHD medication in line with national and local guidance
- Monitor treatment effectiveness, side effects, physical health, and risk
- Provide psychoeducation and support around medication adherence
- Maintain clear communication with GPs and other professionals
- Manage an autonomous caseload and keep high‑quality clinical records
- Provide specialist ADHD advice and consultation to colleagues
- Contribute to service development, audit, and quality improvement
- Registered Nurse (RMN or RN Adult)
- Clinical Nurse Specialist or Advanced Nurse Practitioner level experience within mental health or neuro‑developmental services
- Independent Non‑Medical Prescribing qualification (V300)
- Significant post‑registration mental health experience
- Ability to work autonomously across multiple sites
- Full driving licence and access to a car for work purposes
- Experience in adult ADHD assessment or treatment
- Experience running nurse‑led clinics
- Involvement in service development or quality improvement work
