Make a Difference to Public Health across NHS Borders

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Senior Charge Nurse to join the NHS Borders Vaccination & Immunisation Service.

As Senior Charge Nurse, you will provide professional leadership, clinical expertise and day-to-day operational management to a dedicated multidisciplinary team delivering vaccination programmes across the Scottish Borders. Working closely with colleagues across Primary Care, Public Health, Child Health and Community Services, you will play a key role in ensuring safe, effective and equitable vaccination delivery for children, young people and adults.

This is an ideal opportunity for a highly skilled nurse leader who is passionate about improving population health, delivering high-quality patient care and supporting staff to achieve excellence.

The successful candidate will:

• Provide visible clinical and professional leadership across the Vaccination & Immunisation Service.
• Lead and support teams delivering national immunisation programmes across a range of community settings.
• Ensure safe and effective delivery of vaccination services in line with Scottish Government policy, NHS Scotland guidance, Patient Group Directions (PGDs), National Protocols and local Standard Operating Procedures.
• Support service planning, workforce development, quality improvement and clinical governance activities.
• Lead on risk management, incident review, assurance processes and continuous service improvement.
• Provide clinical supervision, mentorship and professional support to registered and unregistered staff.
• Work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external partners to improve vaccination uptake and reduce health inequalities.

The successful candidate will,

• Be a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Have significant post-registration experience, including experience within immunisation, community nursing, public health or a related field.
• Demonstrate strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• Have experience of managing teams, supporting service delivery and leading quality improvement.
• Be committed to person-centred care, staff wellbeing and continuous improvement.
• Be able to travel throughout the Scottish Borders, as service delivery requires.
