Responsible for performing specialized patient care under the direction of the Director, Surgical Services, and for cleaning and maintenance of all anesthesia equipment. This includes ordering, stocking, distributing and maintaining inventory of anesthesia supplies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Assist anesthesiologists and nursing staff with direct patient care duties, including patient transfers, preparation of equipment, intubations, regional anesthesia, and placement of invasive monitors.
- Change soda‑lime containers according to specific guidelines.
- Set up IV solutions, arterial lines and equipment for anesthesiology use.
- Order daily anesthesia supplies from the storeroom and pharmacy; order and replace special equipment as needed.
- Report equipment malfunctions to the operating room and maintain service records, including gas levels and test results for OR/PACU.
- Check operational status of battery‑run equipment in anesthesia.
- Conduct weekly inventory to maintain supply levels and prepare orders for the appropriate departments.
- Participate in infection control through regular cleaning of anesthesia equipment and perform housekeeping duties to keep the workroom neat and orderly.
- Assist the secretary in performing clerical duties at the control desk.
- Maintain the anesthesia and operating room library and keep the catalog file up to date.
- Conduct routine checks of emergency and anesthesia carts; supply carts with scopes, endotracheal equipment and other supplies as indicated, and correct inventory deficiencies.
- Set up and calibrate invasive monitor transducers.
40 hours per week, 6:30 am – 4:00 pm. Weekend rotation: call every 6th weekend, 7 am – 3 pm.

- Operate glucometer when necessary.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director, Surgical Services.
Education: High school graduate or equivalent; some college or specialized courses preferred. CPR certification required.
Experience: 6 months to 1 year of operating room/anesthesia tech or EMT experience preferred. Understanding of sterile technique essential. OR and PACU exposure necessary.
Skills/Abilities: Good interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to work with detailed confidential material, computer experience required. Must be a self‑starter, able to function with a minimum of supervision.
Working ConditionsPhysical environment includes occasional lifting of 30–35 lbs, turning patients, prolonged standing and walking, twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting. Exposure to infectious disease, possible carcinogenic chemicals, and blood‑borne pathogens. Manual dexterity required for fine hand manipulations and computer keyboard use. Audible/visual demands include seeing the computer screen and reports, and hearing instructions from physicians and nursing staff.
Pay Range$17.00 – $20.77 per hour.
