Activity Assistant – Elmhurst Healthcare

Per diem position, weekend only.

The Activity Assistant is responsible for providing group and individual activities for the residents and creating an engaging, joyous atmosphere.

  • Assist the Activity Director in planning, developing, and implementing enrichment activities.
  • Transport residents to and from activities as needed.
  • Facilitate the activity.
  • Flexible work schedule, may include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Contribute to an environment that is respectful, team-oriented, and responsive to concerns of co‑workers, residents, and families.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities (QAPI) as requested.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive Protected Health Information (HIPAA) at all times.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Patience while interacting with challenged or difficult residents.
  • Knowledge of activity programs developed to engage adult and geriatric residents.
  • Skill in conducting arts & crafts, music, games and associated activities.
  • Demonstrate organizational and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Work independently, problem‑solve, and make decisions as necessary.
  • Create a resident‑centered environment.

  • High school education or equivalency diploma (required).
  • Prior experience in long‑term care environment (preferred).
