An established and growing residential groundworks contractor is looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join its commercial team in Leicestershire.
Working with many of the UK's leading house builders, the business delivers a wide range of residential infrastructure and groundworks packages, including roads, sewers, drainage, foundations, plot works and external works. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, this is an excellent opportunity to join a successful contractor with genuine long-term career prospects.
The RoleThis is a varied commercial position, combining both estimating and quantity surveying responsibilities. Working closely with the commercial and operational teams, you will play a key role from tender stage through to project completion.
- Preparing estimates and tender submissions for residential groundworks projects.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Producing accurate take-offs and cost plans.
- Assisting with subcontractor and supplier procurement.
- Preparing valuations, variations and final accounts.
- Monitoring project costs, forecasts and commercial performance.
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout project delivery.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Supporting the successful commercial delivery of multiple projects across the region.
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator or in a combined commercial role within the construction industry.
- Experience in residential groundworks, civil engineering or infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
- A strong commercial mindset with excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- The ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Construction (preferred but not essential).
- A full UK driving licence.
