Lead Engineer, Maintenance Technician ​/ Mechanic, Electrical Engineering

A successful and well-established food manufacturer is seeking a Lead Maintenance Engineer / Team Leader to join their engineering team on a 4 on 4 off days & nights shift pattern

This role would suit an experienced Lead Engineer or Team Leader, but the business will also consider strong Maintenance Engineers who have not previously held a supervisory role but can demonstrate the potential and desire to step into a leadership position
.

As Lead Maintenance Engineer, you will remain hands‑on while leading a team of two Engineers on shift, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and equipment reliability.

• Lead, guide and mentor engineers on shift
• Prioritise workload to support production and minimise downtime
• Ensure safe systems of work and compliance with site standards
• Deliver effective planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
• Respond to and resolve unplanned breakdowns efficiently
• Monitor equipment performance, reporting variances and taking corrective action
• Communicate technical issues to relevant departments
• Support and complete engineering projects, installations and equipment modifications

• Qualified Maintenance Engineer (C&G / NVQ Level 3 essential; ONC / HNC desirable)
• Multi-skilled with strong mechanical and electrical capability (electrically biased preferred)
• Ideally apprenticeship trained
• Proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong communication skills
• Food manufacturing experience highly advantageous
• Engineers without prior leadership titles will be considered if they demonstrate the aptitude and motivation to lead a team

• Salary circa £51,000
• Up to 5% annual bonus
• 4 on 4 off 12‑hour days & nights shift pattern
