H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, environmental and consulting firm in the NY Metropolitan Area seeks a project-level Mechanical Engineer to join our Melville, NY office
.

Our MEP solutions place an emphasis on building performance, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort. And while our efforts might not be visible in the finished product, the effortlessness they bring to our client’s building’s operations will be.

We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer with 5‑7 years’ experience in a consulting engineering firm designing heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. In this role, you will work with other MEP engineers as part of a multi‑disciplined design team. Working with architects, civil engineers, and environmental scientists, you will be executing mechanical engineering design work for both public and private clients and coordinating the efforts of both in‑house and outside teams who handle equipment selection, layout design, load calculations and specifications.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic go‑getter who can work independently and as part of a multi‑disciplined AE team. As a part of the H2M Team, you will have the support of our 450+ staff to help you succeed in all aspects of your work. We welcome your experience managing projects and handling client interface.

Job Responsibilities
  • Project supervision and coordination with other engineering and architecture departments within the firm.
  • Preparation of construction drawings and specifications for public and private bidding.
  • Direct communication and follow‑up with clients in support and coordination of all project related activities.
  • Technical leadership, production and scheduling, quality control and cost proposals.
  • Responsible for the on‑time, on‑budget and high‑quality technical delivery of all project requirements.
  • Management/Supervision of junior level staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer license preferred.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of HVAC design experience and at least 3 years of project management experience in a consulting firm or related environment.
  • Experience with local municipalities, government agencies a plus.
  • Must have demonstrated technical leadership experience, overseeing a project and working with clients.
  • Ability to mentor/supervise junior level staff.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Salary Range: $80,000 – $120,000 annually. The employment offer may deviate from this published range based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, specialty, knowledge, education, geography and/or related certifications – not related to an applicant’s characteristics protected by local, state or federal law.

The salary or hourly rate indicated does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.
