Internal Audit Project Manager

As an Internal Audit Project Manager, you will play a critical role in helping safeguard and strengthen the processes, systems, and controls that support the life-changing work happening across our  this role, you will lead end-to-end internal audit projects that evaluate operational, financial, compliance, strategic, and research-related processes across St.

Jude. Working closely with stakeholders throughout clinical, research, and administrative functions, you will help identify risks, drive meaningful improvements, and provide insights that support informed decision-making and organizational excellence.

Our Internal Audit team operates in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment where project leads, managers, and team members work together to deliver high-quality results. Success in this role requires agility, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to quickly learn complex topics. Rather than taking a traditional compliance-focused approach, our team emphasizes partnership, relationship-building, and trusted advisory services, working alongside stakeholders to understand risks and strengthen processes that ultimately support the St.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and relationship builder who is comfortable engaging with leaders and subject matter experts across all levels of the organization. They possess excellent interviewing and writing skills, demonstrate executive presence, and can effectively manage multiple priorities while adapting to changing business needs.

Experience with data analytics tools such as Power BI, familiarity with coding or digital technologies, and an interest in leveraging AI capabilities to enhance audit effectiveness are highly valued. Experience in healthcare, finance, research, or other complex organizational environments is a plus.

Job Responsibilities:

Performs end-to-end audit process including planning, fieldwork, reporting, and post audit activities.

For assigned audits, gathers sufficient background information for audit scope. In conjunction with Audit leadership, assist and plans the audit based on the objectives of the activity being reviewed and the processes used to control performance. Discusses proposed audit scope with Internal Audit Leadership team.

Organizes and conducts entrance conference with key stakeholders.

Solicits management concerns regarding activity to be audited.

Meets with chairman/department director to review management's system of control to identify and evaluate key control points. Considers the significant risks to the activity, its objectives, resources, and operations and the methods by which the potential impact of risk is kept to an acceptable level.

Obtains/prepares flow charts of key processes as appropriate. Assesses department compliance with policies, plans, standards, laws, and regulations that could have a significant impact on operations.

Evaluates the department’s accomplishment of established goals and objectives.

Evaluates the use of internal performance monitors.

Makes judgments regarding key internal controls and risk areas.

Based on the controls review and audit scope, develops an audit program.

Considers indicators of potential fraudulent activities.

Keeps audit program updated to reflect significant changes made during the audit.
