What You'll Do
ECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented Specialty Technician I to join our Memphis team and advance in a dynamic work environment. You'll work on a variety of projects performing field observations and inspections, and may also work with steel performing destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT).
Responsibilities
- Perform observations, testing, inspections, and sampling of construction materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel placement; execute tasks based on project requirements under supervision; inspections may also be conducted in fabrication facilities.
- Conduct routine observations of structural steel and reinforcing steel, including welded or bolted connections using industry-standard testing methodologies and equipment, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
- Perform calculations and data analysis based on sampling, test results, and inspections; maintain organization of field equipment; notify supervisors of broken or missing equipment.
- Maintain communication with site contractors, technicians, and project managers; attend project meetings as needed.
- Receive training in ECS methodologies for observations, inspections, and testing; document findings accurately following engineering practices.

Required Qualifications
- At least 2 years of related experience.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Willingness to obtain relevant industry certifications (e.g., NRC, NICET, WACEL, ACI, IFC, AWS, ASNT, ASTM).
- Ability to lift 40-70 lbs multiple times a day, occasionally up to 85 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license and insurance.
- Reliable transportation to job sites; mileage reimbursement provided.
- Strong communication skills.
- Knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing principles and standards.
- Understanding of heavy construction safety practices.
- Ability to work at heights.
- Proficiency with electronic devices and basic MS Office skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction plans.
- If focusing on NDE testing, ability to calibrate NDE equipment.
