This 6‑12 month program offers an exceptional opportunity for training in HIV medicine for pediatric, pediatric infectious diseases, and internal medicine‑pediatrics practitioners. The HIV Clinical Program e has been recognized as a Center of Excellence by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and is an International Maternal Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials (IMPAACT), Adolescent Trials Network (ATN), and Pediatric HIV/AIDS Cohort Study (PHACS) study site.

The outpatient Hughes Infectious Diseases clinic serves infants, children, adolescents and young adults living with HIV infection from Memphis/Shelby County, north Mississippi, eastern Arkansas and west TN. The clinic accepts patients with a diagnosis of HIV infection up to their 22nd birthday and transitions patients to adult care at age 24. The clinic also does indeterminate infant testing and HIV prevention research.

We provide didactic and pragmatic education in the principles of pediatric HIV care and the practice of scientific investigation with cutting‑edge research tools and unparalleled resources. The clinic provides multidisciplinary care with a staff of physicians and advanced practice providers dedicated to HIV care, social workers, clinical research associates, pharmacists, psychology, psychiatry, school services, chaplain support and child life. This team works closely together with trainees to provide comprehensive training in the field of HIV care and research.

Eligibility:

Applicants must have an MD or local equivalent and three years of postdoctoral training in pediatrics in either an ACGME‑accredited pediatric residency program or an RCPSC‑accredited pediatric residency program in Canada. Foreign medical graduates who have completed a non‑accredited pediatric residency program may also be considered if they meet additional qualifications and conditions.
