Extended Learning Program Director Role Summary
The Extended Learning Director plans and leads high-quality extended learning programs that extend and enrich the core Montessori and liberal arts curriculum se include: before school care, after school learning, athletics, field trips, and enrichment classes during the school day (music, visual art, manual arts, theater, P.E., etc.). The Extended Learning Director also serves as the School Testing Coordinator, planning for and administering internal and state assessments (e.g. NWEA MAP, Aimsweb, TCAP), in close collaboration with the academic leadership team.

Libertas is a public charter school serving the Frayser neighborhood in Memphis. Our mission is to be a school for human flourishing: cultivating minds, hands, and hearts for lives of wonder, work, and love. We offer a rich, rigorous, and personalized liberal arts education through the method of Dr. Maria Montessori, with an attachment village of wraparound family supports. The state has named Libertas a Tennessee Reward School – one of the top 15% of public schools.
We currently serve infant and toddler, early childhood and elementary at our founding location and a new middle school on a second nearby campus. We also operate a nationally-accredited, state-licensed teacher training program. Learn more about Libertason our website.
- Full-time, following the school calendar (optional additional weeks in the summer for Summer Camp, for additional compensation)
- Most days 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with some flexibility to oversee before-school programs (which begin at 7:00 a.m.) and morning enrichment classes (which begin at 8:00 a.m.). Must be available to begin at 7:30 or 8:00 a.m. during certain testing windows.

Assistant Principal - Key relationships: extended learning program staff, classroom teachers, Attachment Village Team members, Family Engagement Team members, students, families, community partners
- Successful planning and implementation of assigned programs
- 85% satisfaction among stakeholders (including staff, students, and families)
- Specific measures for after-school. For example:
- Increase growth in reading and math, exhibit positive behavioral changes, decrease chronic absenteeism
- Multiple community partners involved
- After-school family engagement activities implemented
- All assigned programs operate within budget and meeting all compliance standards
- Satisfactory performance evaluations
- Other indicators as determined
After School Learning (16 hours / week) and Before School Care (2 hours / week)
- Plan and implement high-quality After School learning programs (serving well over 100 children daily) according to grant guidelines and school priorities. Programs should include academic tutoring, academic enrichment, arts, and athletics – see current family-facing program overview here.
- Increase opportunities for students to participate in after school athletics programs through intramural sports and/or community leagues. (We currently offer intramural baseball, softball, and dance, in addition to our partnership with Soccer Shots.)
- Plan and implement daily Before School Care for students who arrive before the school day begins.
- Recruit and assign staff members and community partners. (Past, current, and potential partners include Collage Dance Collective, Soccer Shots, Girls Inc, Code Crew, New Ballet Ensemble, etc.)
- Supervise staff. Observe and give feedback aligned to program goals. Address performance issues directly and in a timely manner.
- Create and publish daily program schedules for staff and students. Ensure all programs are scheduled to occur in appropriate classrooms or other locations.
- Recruit and enroll students. Communicate with families about program offerings and program fees. Send invoices to families and process payments using our online system. Follow up with families who fail to pay. Allocate scholarship money equitably and strategically.
