About Us

Freedom Preparatory Academy Charter Schools is a network of PreK-12 free public charter schools serving students in Memphis, TN, and Birmingham, AL. Our mission is to prepare all students for college and life. Since 2009, we have grown from 96 sixth‑grade students to over 1,950 across multiple campuses, with new expansion in Birmingham starting with K‑1 and planned through K‑5. We are committed to academic rigor, character development, and providing high‑quality public education to every child.

We are hiring a high school teacher specializing in ELA/Reading and/or Math with a focus on ACT prep and test‑taking strategies. The teacher will introduce concepts, assess mastery through consistent yearly assessments, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure cross‑curriculum alignment. Each teacher will be responsible for their subject area and standards.

• Uses detailed data analysis of student performance to inform best practices.
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, administrative, and district regulations.
• Works an extended school day for collaboration, professional development, and communication with parents and staff.
• Works closely with the Head of School, Assistant Head of School, and Dean of Students to implement strategies for all students to reach success.
• Completes other tasks as assigned by school‑based administrative employees.

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree required;
  Master’s Degree strongly preferred.
• Certification: Valid Tennessee teaching license and endorsement in the hired content area, or a license from a state that offers reciprocity with TN, or enrollment in a certification program eligible for licensure recommendation. Eligibility for a Tennessee teaching license is required.
• Experience: Two to four years of urban teaching and educational leadership experience preferred; ability to work with a variety of learning abilities, including low‑skill students in a heterogeneously grouped classroom; strong computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Salary: $50,000 - $76,000 per year.
