Special Education Teacher

Aurora Collegiate Academy is a college preparatory K–5th grade charter school for underserved children from across Memphis. Opened in August 2012, our mission is to prepare students to excel in secondary education and pursue higher education.

Our staff works to prepare students in grades kindergarten through fifth with the academic, social, and character skills necessary to succeed in college and beyond. Teachers at Aurora Collegiate Academy are expected to align with our mission, embody our core values, and do whatever it takes to provide quality education.

To achieve our mission, Aurora teachers will:

• Adhere to school policies regarding behavior expectations, using rewards and consequences.
• Work effectively and professionally with all team members.
• Implement small group instruction.
• Align instruction with our standards-based curriculum.
• Use data to inform instructional decisions and classroom planning.
• Submit weekly lesson plans for review.
• Participate in regular coaching sessions.
• Follow professional norms and standards.
• Do whatever it takes to fulfill Aurora’s mission.
• Complete all required SpEd paperwork and manage meetings and evaluations related to SpEd services.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.

State-issued teaching license in the SpEd subject area.

Willingness to perform all duties diligently.

Belief that all students can succeed in college and a desire to guide students toward that goal.
