Education Assistant – Early Childhood (Pre‑K)
Summary: Performs specialized work to assist the teacher in achieving teaching objectives while working with individual students or small groups to improve skills and increase learning. This position helps reinforce the learning of skills introduced by the teacher, guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work assigned by the teacher, and maintains a well‑organized, smoothly functioning learning environment in which students can benefit fully from the program of instruction and available resources.
The assistant works under direct supervision according to set procedures.
- Assist the teacher in reaching teaching objectives.
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce skills.
- Guide independent study, enrichment, and remedial work as assigned.
- Maintain an organized and well‑functioning learning environment.
- Support students so they can benefit fully from available resources.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s degree, or two (2) years of college (minimum of 48 semester hours).
- A passing score on the Para Pro Assessment Test is preferred.
- One (1) year of experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred.
- Must possess or be able to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid.
