TN Certified | Elementary Math Teacher | Grade 5

Memphis, TN – Pay range: $55,000 – $76,000 per year.

Responsibilities
  • Administers and develops subject‑specific assessments to evaluate student competency and to develop individual learning plans.
  • Advises parents or legal guardians on student progress, expectations, achievements, and methods for improvement.
  • Assesses student progress toward standards and provides feedback to students, parents, and administration.
  • Collaborates with instructional staff, parents, and community resources to improve overall student outcomes and achieve classroom objectives.
  • Provides counseling to students to improve performance, health status, problem‑solving skills, and personal issues.
  • Demonstrates and differentiates instructional methods for effective programs addressing individual student needs.
  • Instructs students in mathematics to improve academic success.
  • Manages student behavior to maintain a safe and optimal learning environment.
  • Monitors students across school environments to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Participates in meetings and professional development activities to convey or gather information necessary for performance.
  • Prepares written materials (grades, lesson plans, correspondence, quizzes, attendance records) for documentation of progress and mandated requirements.
  • Reports incidents (e.g., fights, suspected abuse, substance abuse, harassment, zero‑tolerance offenses) to maintain safety and adhere to state law and board policies.
  • Responds to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns.
  • Directs teacher assistants, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers for an effective classroom program.
  • Supports other classroom teachers in implementing curriculum and individual student plans.
  • Demonstrates and models integration of technology in all curriculum areas.
  • Follows a professional technology development plan and seeks opportunities to grow professionally.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and endorsement in the grade/subject taught with a valid Tennessee teaching certificate.
  • Highly qualified teacher.
  • Physically and mentally able to perform required duties.
  • Governed by the Tennessee Code Annotated and Tennessee Board of Education regulations.

Data Utilization: Review, classify, categorize, prioritize, and analyze data; exercise discretion in applying data classification and establishing standards.

Human Interaction: Provide guidance, supervision, assistance, and interpretation to others regarding procedures and standards.

Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Operate and control equipment and tools used in essential functions.

Verbal Aptitude: Use a wide variety of reference, descriptive, and advisory data and information.

Mathematical Aptitude: Perform calculations and interpret graphs.

Functional Reasoning: Apply principles of systems, laws, and procedures; interpret instructions and exercise judgment to adopt or modify methods.

Situational Reasoning: Exercise judgment and creativity when evaluating information against measurable criteria and planning program priorities.
