Job Summary:
This is a part-time, Adjunct Faculty position in the Department of Allied Health. The Adjunct Instructor is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities.
Job Duties:
- Prepares and delivers instruction in classroom and clinical facilities on topics in Allied Health Science.
- Compiles, administers, evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, tests, and papers fairly and consistently.
- Develops curricula and instructional material such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
- Maintains office hours for students seeking academic advice, assists in student recruitment and retention.
- Maintains accurate student attendance records, grades, and other required records in compliance with federal FERPA regulations.
- Attends all faculty meetings, college assemblies, professional development and orientation activities.
- Keeps abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
- Participates in departmental and college committees; and provides outreach service to the community.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Registered dietitian/nutritionist (RD or RDN)
- Licensed dietitian nutritionist in the state of TN (LDN)
- Master's degree with at least 18 graduate hours in nutrition
- Teaching experience preferred, but not required
- Comfortable with online components of education
- Willing to possibly teach virtual evening classes
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
- Knowledge of current teaching and learning strategies to facilitate student-centered learning.
- Skill in selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation.
- Ability to integrate technology into course delivery.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
