Performs specialized work by assisting school teachers in instructing and supervising students to provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment. Responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, assisting children in the classroom and other areas, reinforcing lessons, and supporting special needs students or projects as assigned. Works under direct supervision in accordance with set procedures for classroom support in the Early Childhood Program.
Qualifications include graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree or two years of college, or passing the Para Pro Assessment Test and one year of experience working with children in an educational setting. Must obtain certification in CPR and First Aid, and within two years, acquire the Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA). Proof of education, training, and experience is required.
Degree equivalency:
Bachelor's Degree = 4 years plus experience;
Master's Degree = 6 years plus experience.
