Gestalt Community Schools is a system of K–12 college–preparatory charter schools in targeted Tennessee communities. GCS schools provide strong academic outcomes for their scholars through initiatives including meaningful community involvement. GCS catalyzes community leadership to help revitalize the neighborhood as it operates its schools in that community. GCS believes that the most effective method to support student achievement is an integration of education and community (a true “gestalt”).

Salary: $53,000–$75,250 (Memphis, TN).

Responsibilities
  • Design weekly lesson plans, develop standards-based assessments, analyze assessment data, and create intervention plans to meet scholars’ needs.
  • Integrate technology effectively in the classroom and implement project-based learning.
  • Knowledge of the Achievement First Curriculum and ability to interpret lesson plan designed.
  • Teach scholars a common core based curriculum.
  • Motivate scholars toward achievement.
  • Meet with parents regarding performance and conduct.
  • Develop scholar improvement plans.
  • Work with special educators in a co‑teaching model for students with IEP plans.
  • Plan work with school and network teams.
  • Attend weekly required professional development training.
  • Create and review student assessments.
  • Tutoring students and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Holds a current TN teaching license in English/Language Arts with appropriate endorsement code (required).
  • Has a bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Proven track record of academic success as evident in TVAAS, state assessments, and value-added data (preferred).
  • Belief that all students can learn at high academic levels.
  • Uses digital content, technology integration, and project-based learning in a highly proficient manner.
  • Ability to work in an extended day environment.
  • Ability to teach in an inclusive environment with a co‑teacher.
  • Good communication and written skills required.
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills.
