SY 2025‑2026 Elective Teacher – Gestalt Community Schools
DescriptionGestalt Community Schools is a system of K‑12 college‑preparatory charter schools located in targeted Tennessee communities. Our schools provide strong academic outcomes through initiatives that include meaningful community involvement. We catalyze community leadership to help revitalize neighborhoods where our schools operate, believing that the most effective method to support student achievement is an integration of education and community—a true "gestalt."
This position serves students in Grades 3 through 5, delivering engaging and developmentally appropriate instruction in an elective subject area such as art, music, STEM, physical education, or other.
Responsibilities- Design weekly lesson plans and develop standards‑based assessments.
- Create intervention plans to meet scholars' needs.
- Integrate technology effectively in the classroom and implement project‑based learning.
- Teach scholars a common‑core‑based curriculum.
- Motivate scholars toward achievement.
- Meet with parents regarding performance and conduct.
- Develop scholar improvement plans.
- Collaborate with special educators in a co‑teaching model for students with IEP plans.
- Work plan with school and network teams.
- Attend weekly required professional development training.
- Create and review student assessments.
- Tutor students and perform other duties as assigned.
- Hold a current TN teaching license in Elementary Education with endorsement code 120 (Required).
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Proven track record of academic success as evidenced in TVAAS, state assessments, and VAP data (Preferred).
- Believe that all students can learn at high academic levels.
- Use digital content, technology integration, and project‑based learning proficiently.
- Plan and deliver high‑quality instruction in an elective subject to students in Grades 3–5.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and growth.
- Collaborate with grade‑level and specialty teachers to support interdisciplinary learning where appropriate.
- Assess student progress and provide regular feedback to students and families.
- Maintain classroom management in line with school policies.
- Participate in faculty meetings, school events, and professional development as required.
- Foster creativity, curiosity, and a love of learning while supporting the school's mission and values.
