Assistant Professor - Department of Physical Therapy

Join the University of Tennessee Health Science Center as an Assistant Professor in our full‑time, non‑tenure track, 12‑month position. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience.

Job Description

The Department of Physical Therapy invites qualified candidates to contribute to teaching, student advisement, and professional service while disseminating scholarly work in accordance with professional and college guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in physical therapy.
  • Advise students and supervise research projects.
  • Provide university and professional service, including committee participation.
  • Disseminate scholarly work through publications, presentations, and engagement with professional organizations.
Qualifications Education
  • Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree for instructor level.
  • DPT degree,
    * or* a Master’s/Bachelor’s in Physical Therapy plus an academic doctorate in a related field for assistant professor level.
Experience
  • Evidence of teaching experience and content expertise.
  • Three years of clinical experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
License
  • Physical Therapy license or eligibility for licensure in the State of Tennessee.
Departmental Preferences
  • Evidence of academic teaching experience at the university level.
  • Minimum of five years of clinical experience.
  • Record of scholarly activity.
  • Leadership in a professional organization at state or national level.
  • Board specialty or clinical certification in physical therapy content area.
  • Leadership or administration in clinical practice.
