Title:
Assistant Professor, Musical Theatre Voice.
Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre Voice is a tenure‑track, full‑time, academic‑year position. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of successful college or professional teaching and have the ability to teach both “legit” and contemporary musical theatre vocal styles, as well as a working knowledge of the American musical‑theatre canon. Special consideration will be given to candidates with professional experience as a musical‑theatre performer, piano skills, and/or current industry connections.
The candidate must also have a demonstrated commitment to student mentoring and development suitable for a professional training program offering the B.F.A. degree in Musical Theatre.
- Teach voice (singing) to undergraduate Musical Theatre concentration students.
- Maintain an active professional profile and keep current with stylistic and pedagogical developments.
- Participate in departmental and university‑wide activities.
- Teach additional courses such as Music Skills for Musical Theatre, Audition Prep, and Acting Through Song, as needed.
- Provide production responsibilities (vocal coaching, accompaniment, or music directing) in the department’s season.
- Maintain a creative research agenda in the area(s) of expertise.
- Engage in service activities including committee work, academic advising of M.F.A. and B.F.A. students, and collaboration with faculty to support departmental goals.
- Earned graduate degree in music or theatre.
- Or earned bachelor’s degree with equivalent professional experience.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.; sponsorship of employment visa not available at this time.
