One of our large clients is seeking Critical Facilities Operation Technicians to join their team permanently in the Memphis Metropolitan Area. Relocation assistance will be provided.
Operate and maintain facility systems for supercomputing datacenter builds. This hands‑on role involves maintenance, operations, and repair of facilities related to all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems.
Responsibilities:- Ensure site safety and environmental compliance for MEP infrastructure, adhering to local and regional health and safety regulations.
- Provide operational expertise for MEP systems at the datacenter facility, including pumps, piping, chillers, cooling towers, CRAH units, wiring, lighting systems, generators, motors, water supply, UPS, and switch gear.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure performance measures are met and proactively report facility issues.
- Write and execute Method of Procedures (MOPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs).
- Be available for occasional on‑site emergency calls during nights and weekends.
- Perform daily inspections of critical systems.
- Identify and maintain spare parts inventory to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate and supervise scheduled system shutdown.
- Develop and implement energy monitoring metrics.
- Support commissioning efforts by witnessing equipment startup, assisting with functional testing, and monitoring construction progress.
- Ensure site safety and environmental compliance for MEP infrastructure, adhering to local and regional health and safety regulations.
- Non‑Negotiable - must be able and able to work a fixed rotating schedule (12‑hour shifts, includes night shift).
- 3+ years of experience (hands‑on).
- Knowledge of electrical / mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with PLCs or BMS.
- Experience operating MEP systems (pumps, chillers, UPS - Uninterruptible Power Supplies, switch gear, cool towers, refrigerators, power generators, HVAC).
- Ability to ensure safety/environmental compliance.
- Troubleshoot issues and support commissioning.
- Nuclear navy mate background a plus.
- Experience with York YMC Chiller.
- Heavy mechanical background with electrical experience.
- Knowledge of mechanical or electrical engineering principles and systems.
- Critical Infrastructure experience.
- NETA or NETA certified.
- Electrical Testing experience.
- Army, Military, Navy, Nuclear Navy mate, FOB or Forward Operating Base experience.
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Military background or relevant experience acceptable in lieu of).
- Experience with extremely high voltage.
- Experience creating OR following / knowledge of MOP, EOP, SOP.
