Join Our Team as a Professional Engineer- PE (EIR Environmental Engineer
3) – Tennessee

Atlas is looking for a motivated and experienced Professional Engineer (EIR Environmental Engineer
3) to join our Tennessee team! This role offers the flexibility to be based in one of the following locations:
Bartlett (Memphis area), Murfreesboro (Nashville area), or Jackson, TN.

This position is responsible for assessment of remedial activities, overseeing drilling and monitoring well installation with appropriate geologic experience, sampling (soil, water, etc.) through the initial investigation phase, compiling/analyzing environmental data, overseeing of MEME events and soil gas survey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage Underground Storage Tank (UST) program projects from initiation through closure, including assessment, remediation, and operations & maintenance (O&M) of sites with Dual Phase Extraction/Liquid Ring systems.
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, and deliverables while maintaining strong client and regulatory relationships.
  • Participate in and lead client and regulatory meetings.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to ensure project success.
  • Foster a positive, team‑oriented work environment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Must be a professional engineer (PE) licensed in the State of Tennessee or have the credentials necessary to obtain a TN PE license within 3 months of hire date.
  • Minimum of 5 years of full‑time experience in environmental project management, including investigation, remedial planning, or design.
  • At least 5 years of UST petroleum experience (experience in Tennessee is a plus).
  • Experience working within a state reimbursement program (Tennessee experience preferred).
  • Hands‑on experience with soil, groundwater, and air sampling.
  • Proven supervisory and project management experience.
  • Postgraduate education may substitute for up to 2 years of experience.
  • Strong leadership and client management abilities.
  • Excellent technical writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in time management and detail‑oriented under tight deadlines.
  • In‑depth knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Ability to design and implement field sampling programs and interpret geological, hydrogeological, and chemical data.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Teams and related applications.
Additional Requirements
  • Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Nashville, Jackson, or Memphis metro areas (this is not a remote position).
  • Willingness to travel locally (50–70%) with occasional overnight stays depending on project location.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Commitment to safe work practices and adherence to company safety protocols.
