Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead our tax advisory and compliance efforts. You will play a key role in providing innovative tax planning solutions integrated with our wealth, asset, retirement, and estate management services. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with deep expertise in individual and business taxation, particularly for high-net-worth clients.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement sophisticated tax planning strategies to minimize client tax liabilities while aligning with their overall wealth management, retirement, and estate planning goals.
- Oversee the preparation and review of complex federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals, trusts, estates, partnerships, and corporations.
- Provide proactive tax advisory services, including analysis of investment decisions, charitable giving, wealth transfer techniques, and retirement distributions for tax efficiency.
- Collaborate with wealth advisors, financial planners, and estate planning specialists to deliver integrated solutions for clients.
- Conduct tax research on evolving legislation, regulations, and rulings; advise clients and internal teams on impacts and opportunities.
- Manage tax compliance processes, including estimated payments, extensions, and responses to IRS/state inquiries or audits.
- Identify potential tax risks and opportunities; develop mitigation strategies and planning recommendations.
- Mentor and supervise junior tax staff, ensuring high-quality work and professional development.
- Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and best practices in wealth management taxation.
- Contribute to business development by supporting client meetings and proposing tax-efficient strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field;
Master's in Taxation or JD/LLM preferred. - Active CPA or EA license required.
- (5-7+) years of progressive tax experience in public accounting, a wealth management firm, or financial services environment.
- Proven expertise in high-net-worth individual taxation, trusts, estates, gift tax, and multi-state compliance.
- Strong knowledge of tax implications related to investments, retirement accounts, and estate planning tools.
