Capital Expenditure Accounting Analyst
Location: Hybrid (2-3 days/week on site - Mondays mandatory, other days flexible) in Memphis, TN
Pay Rate: $31/hr. with some flexibility dependent upon experience
Duration: 3-month contract at this time
Job Description: Our Finance team serves as a critical business partner responsible for managing all global activities related to financial performance, accounting, tax, forecasting, risk management, and asset management.
What will I be doing?
The Analyst, Capital Expenditures (CAPEX) will support the Manager and Senior Analyst with the monitoring, reporting, and forecasting of capital expenditures, support funding requests and project close-outs, and perform various other activities supporting fixed asset accounting related activities, such as the monitoring and forecasting of capital expenditures for projects being executed across a portfolio of properties.
- Monitor capital expenditures against established budgets
- Prepare weekly project status updates and monthly project expenditure reports
- Develop periodic project financial forecasts
- Resolve additional funding/substitution needs as required
- Prepare project closeout documentation in accordance with Hilton standards
- Perform compliance duties such as the set-up and maintenance of internal controls and SOX compliance
- Support team by working with Fixed Asset Accounting Controller on accounting for capitalized legal fees, development bonuses, and intangibles
- Report results to others and explain and decipher findings
- Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with other finance departments and corporate departments
- Collaborate with manager to establish specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish project/department goals
- Attend staff meetings pertinent to work assignments
We believe the success in this role will demonstrate itself through the following attributes and skills:
- Working knowledge of Power BI is advantageous
- Understanding of principles and practical application of GAAP
- Research and respond to information requests from internal departments and management
- Excellent written and verbal communication and comprehension skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and effectively handle multiple, concurrent demands and appropriately prioritize responsibilities
- Exceptional critical thinking and both quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with the ability to utilize logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative or conclusions to problems
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision-making skills to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and to provide recommendations for optimal solutions.
- One (1) year of professional experience in Accounting
- Proficiency in Excel
- BA/BS/Bachelors Degree and/or MA/MS/Masters Degree Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- Three (3) years of professional experience in Accounting
- Experience with Capital Expenditures
